I wrote a blog post in the not too distant past about a resource - Experteer - which describes itself as Europe's leading personalised career service for experienced professionals. It's services are defined by your career goals - it alerts you to specific jobs and provides confidential access to an approved headhunter network. With over 40,000 jobs starting at over 60,000 euro, it's definitely a must visit or any professional with career interests in Europe. Experteer has services for recruiters as well.
I tracked down one of the founders of Experteer, Christian Goettsch, who took some time out of his busy schedule to share a little bit about this valuable resource:
Christoph, can you tell me how Experteer got started?
Experteer was founded by myself, a former Microsoft executive, and Georg von Holtzbrinck, of a German publishing group. It started in Germany and expanded quickly in 2008 to the UK, Switzerland, France, Austria, Italy and Belgium.
What makes experteer different from all of the other executive-level job and career sites?
Experteer flipped the business model of traditional career sites, where candidates use the site for free and recruiters/headhunters pay. At Experteer candidates choose between basic and premium membership, starting from 9,90 EUR per month. In addition Experteer focuses on the exclusive market of headhunter, giving them discrete access to the candidate database whereas company recruiters are only allowed to post jobs for free. Experteer features the most influential headhunters worldwide. Currently more than 3.500 headhunters use Experteer. Candidates appreciate the discreetness of Experteer and the access to more than 50.000 60k+ jobs. Finally Experteer is not only a job site or board but a technically advanced network where headhunters/recruiters interact with highly qualified candidates.
Are their plans to expand your level of services?
There will be several new features next year in order to constantly improve the consumer experience. The UK site just added a professional CV writing service.
If someone signs up for your service, what is the one thing they must to do to get the most value from their membership?
To get the most out of the service it is critical to complete your career goals and your profile as accurately as possible. Only then the matching technology Experteer developed will be most relevant.
Is there anything else that you feel is important that people should know?
At Experteer it is really about giving the most relevant and effective consumer experience. Therefore we constantly improve Experteer. In 2009 many new launches and product features will make Experteer even more global and innovative without losing its local touch.
Many thanks Christoph for taking the time to share your thoughts about how to best use the valueable resource for expats in Europe!
